Project ‘Fire Force’ is a project intended to be the Fire Service equivalent to the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight , bringing together a ‘column’ of fire appliances and equipment that would have been used to defend the Towns and Cities of Great Britain from destruction by Fire Bombs.

Welcome to our project 'Fire Force'
The name Fire Force has been selected as it was the term used to describe operational Fire areas during the organisation of the National Fire Service.
​
The project is a tribute to the 370,000 Firemen
and Firewomen who served
in the Fire Service between 1938 and 1948
in the regular, Auxiliary and latterly
National Fire Service.
The ‘column’ will provide a living history resource for today’s and future generations as a memorial to the 1027 Fire Service personnel who perished performing their duties during World War 2.
The logo represents a roundel used by many Auxiliary Fire services and features the cap badges of the Auxiliary and National Fire Service.

'The Rescue' painted by Fireman Reginald Mills, depicting the act of bravery by Fireman Frederick Davies GC, who on the night of 23rd August 1945, entered the upper floors of a building well alight to save two trapped children.

All three died in the blaze.
​
Fireman Davies was seen to remove his Tunic to protect a child he had located, resulting in severe burns to his body form which he died days later.
​
The child he rescued was found to be already deceased on rescue.

The painting captures the moment that two Firemen were buried under rubble on the night of 29th December 1940, killing the Fireman who had just received Fireman Rosoman at the Branch.
